Default Former Female College

This is my first "finds" post but have been md'ing abt 6 months now, figured I'd contribute.

A buddy of mine got permission to detect an old 1850 ish home that was used as a Female College in the late 1800's. We found lots of clad. Myself $1.17 (oldest 1965 Rosie) and a few odd's and ends along with what looks like a small caliber bullet, another small round ball and the usual square nails that my GTI swears are dimes. Hehe. This house was also used as a "Formal" wear shop in the late 1960's and early 70's.

I do have a "what-is-it" in the square thing with the pin sticking out. I've also found a few six sided thingys just like this near another old home here. One was sacrificed trying out my new electrolysis setup. Advice, don't forget to unplug it before you go to bed. LOL.

We spent about 3 hours digging the normal trash and swinging our way back to our cars my buddy did finally find a '42 wheatie. This place just has to have some stuff. We will be back.

The square thingy looks like one of the spot weld fasteners, that we used to use when we were putting on insulation blankets on a steam turbine.
But for where you found it I doubt that is what it was used for.
That site should produce some rather nice finds.
(When you get below all newer trash and junk).

Thanks Boobie

Yea the six sided ones were found near an old cistern and found about five of them real close together near an old brick sidewalk leading to the cistern. (At a different antebellum home.)

Most of the clad and the button and buckle thing we found today were in an old gravel driveway.

Natchez just has too many places that need to be dirt fished.

Cool finds. Good to see someone else from Mississippi posting.

If you have your electrolysis set at 2 amps or less that shouldn't have destroyed it.
I leave my bad coins on all night with no trouble. If I turn it up to 10 amps, the coin will be GONE.

Thanks Pappy Looking at them now that makes sense. Now after about 200 more trips to these places and I'll save a bundle on my next roofing job. LOL

Boobie my electrolysis setup is made from an old printer power supply, and works too good.

ERNurse Thanks. I've been lurking these forums a while and have been to lazy to really post. I'll try to do better.
