Default Found today (memorial day)

Only my second time out...
So, I headed out to a park near Middleburg today and found a small amount of clad and a medallion. I can make out the dates on some of the pennies, but the others are somewhat destroyed. Looks like someone poured acid on it. None of the pennies appear to be older than 1955. The dime is 1986, found lying just beneath the grass. I found the medallion in what appeared to be someone else's dig spot. I did not dig everything in the park, (the park is huge) and the ground is really dry and hard.
I found all the pennies about 6 inches from a huge old oak tree and about a radius of one foot of each other. I know I did not get everything. I am going back again. Here are the pics.

I did not realize you were so close to me. I am in Ashburn. I have been looking for some places to go. I was wondering if you would be willing to share some places or give me some tips about md'ing in this area. I am willing to travel Loudon, Fauquier, and into the Valley. If not, I totally understand.

I would love to find some of the older towns that have disappeared and search those areas, but I do not know enough about the history of the area, having just moved here in November. There is not much on the internet about those types of places.

Love Middleburg, that whole stretch of 50, but so afraid I am going to disturb a historical area.

I have that BP problem myself, that's one of the many reasons why I took this up, not to stressful!

the hole area is hot. i'm in hillsoboro. but if you look up hillsboro virgiia civil war you wont get much. // but the original spellin hillsborough in the 1800's will get ya going. i usally only relic hunt unless its real old homes 1800's then i'll coin shoot. pm me or e-mail me your phone # and i'll call ya tomorrow. on some spots. rite now i'm doing some overlay maps from 1850 to 1950 topo to present. its amazing how the roads change but the river and creeks are good to go. i use to hunt down your way some 20 years ago and it was good but all the building stoped that. tha AOL headquarters had the best pickett post along the creek now try an get in there.
dont evan thing about balls bluff or mannasas national battle fields. they will get ya. (they have sencers out in the fields) a friend of mine got nailed there and in court they said the remote sencer alarmed.
but theres plenty of spots to check.

Default Sent you an emial.

I know there is a lot of history here, and just finding the right place and time to search can be a hassle. I am up to the challenge. I would not doubt that about AOL. AOL is just crazy! I can only imagine what the place was like before all these houses and strip malls came. I bet it was a real hotbed. Just wanted you to know I sent an emial to you. I work 6-2 each day, usually home by 3.
