Default I'm on a Streak. A Top List First About 10 Mins ago. But is it Real?

Let me start by saying the CZ is the best detector I have ever used. Thanks so much Birdman for the opertunity.

I have always wanted to find an eagle button. Well I was just at a 1700's house I got permission to hunt and this poped out. Is it real? I have only found one other button with a eagle that was last year it was a Ulster Guard button. Is this one real?

I am so siked and hoping it is real. It says excelsior under the eagle around the rim and has stars over the eagle.

Default It Sure Looks Real To Me...

...and on top of that it looks like a General Officer's Great Coat Button. Can you make out the "back mark" writing on the back of the button? Be careful in cleaning, just warm water and a little soap, and a very soft brissel tooth brush. Use the brus very slowly and gently!

WTG...nice find!

Default nice button

I'm not sure, but I would say post CW. What is on the shield? It looks as if its a NY State shield on it. Ive dug 2 NY state cuff buttons that are CW period and the shields look alike. The wings on that button remind me of a Confederate button where as most of the union buttons had upswept wings except the Navy's. Very interesting find you have, Great find.

here is a close up photo of the shield of the NY buttons, sure looks the same to me. Your button has me stumped.

Default Dang

Ok, I sat here and looked and looked. I can make out the shield does have the NY state seal in it. Now its off to the net to find out the info on this button. and it does look like a three piece button to me.
