Default A few finds and a Zoo trip

Got out Saturday for about 2 hours. It was hot and dry. I needed a miners pic to get at anything. Went to an old church from 1869 about a half mile from my house. I have never found anything old there. I don't know if it's really been hunted hard in the past or the members were just very frugle and didn't drop anything. A huge oak tree was removed from the front of the church last week, so I saw my opportunity. I went to the downed tree site and found 2 wheaty's. a 1912 and 1928. Found some newer clad in the gravel parking area and a key chain. We took the boys to the zoo that afternoon. Had a great time. I saw this fellow and thought thats what I should be doing in this heat.

What a great photo of that guy! He's so expressive. I sure know what you mean about needing a pick. Makes me want to rethink that Lescher tool everyone's raving about. Not sure if it would do the job, but I bet it would help just a little. Maybe one of those little spades, to have a bit more leverage, but then it just becomes too much to carry around...

So happy you had such a nice Saturday.

I just love going to a zoo with the family.
It just is so kewl when a little child sees a real live new animal for the first time.
