Default Greenwenvy and me

I met up with Greenwenvy last evening and headed out to the beach. Since it's right behind the Ritz Carlton in Dana Point, CA, I thought it would be a pretty good beach to find something...anything. We got there in the evening (I know it's not prime time to go, but it was our only free time) and suited up and walked down to the beach. After an hour and a half, G had found a clad quarter, dime, penny and a can. I had found a nice pair of sunglasses and some trash.

I was stoked about the shades, but was getting mad that I hadn't had a single signal in over 45 minutes. All of the signals I would get were false tones. I'm sure it's just because I don't have a "beach machine"

We made our way back to where we started and kept walking. There was a surfing contest going on, so there were still plenty of people hangin' around. As soon as I crossed into the crowd of people, I found 2 quarters in the same hole. About 2 inches from there I found a broken cheapy earring. About 5 feet later I found a bottle opener.

I could go home. I wasn't about to leave without finding at least a quarter.

Oh yeah, the beach was beautiful. Inland, yesterday was about 85 or hotter. At the beach I needed a jacket because it was a bit windy, so it was quite refreshing.

Sounds like a good time and great weather - always nice to find something, too

Hey at least you found something :) I went to Zuma Beach last night, didn't find anything. It was windy there too, had to throw on a jacket.

Went to the local park for about an hour today and found a quarter and a dime.

I really think we're at a disadvantage with the Ace250 at the beaches. I kept testing my machine to make sure my headphones were still working. I wasn't getting anything for the longest time. Now, I KNOW there's more trash and stuff on those beaches than I was finding... It's gotta have something to do with the mineralization. Maybe the sand was too wet, even in the dry sand. It was sorta sticky and hazy, yesterday, at the beach.

Good job at the park, though! Keep it up. That's where I find all my stuff, so far. Nobody has a real yard where I live, so it's either parks or schools. I'm waiting for school to let out before I go.

Default Hello Pris...

...the main problem, as I see it, is that the ACE250 doesn't like the "wet salt sand", and the "wet salt sand" doesn't care much for the ACE250 either! Usually to get it working at all, one has to turn the sensitivity way down, and then, of course lose depth.

About all one can do, is stay in the dry sand, and turn that sensitivity up as high as you can without the machine squawking at you too much! Salt beaches are very high mineralization, and most VLF machines just can't cut it there.

Hey Chuck Yeah, I was trying the tip that you gave me the other day, too. I stayed in the dry stuff, but it may have just been a bit too damp in the air. The wind was blowing a bunch of moisture...not really in drops or mist, but it was sticky. I hope that makes sense.

I think it will take me a bunch of practice or a new machine to be able to do any damage at a beach. I have the scoop, now, so I guess I'll just have to get the machine, huh?

Talking Yay for the beach!

I think my total haul that day was 2 quarters, 2 dimes, 1 nickel, and 6 pennies after it was all said an done. And there was the tourist who just had to have her photo taken with my metal detector and headphones on, he he he.

Had a great time with Pris as usual! Hey P get any sand anywhere, ha ha ha. And of course the eye candy was A+.

Cheers

Default Yer so funny!

I had totally forgotten about the "tourist" chick. What about the drunk women that drove up in the golf cart as we were leaving? I don't know what she was singin' in the restroom, but it was LOUD!

No hills, next time, k?

Sounds like a fun hunt Pris.
It would sure be fun living close to the beach.
[Especially on a hot day.]

Pris any day at the beach is a nice day, regardless of what you find, I'm heading down to the beach tomm. I did some research, and before the property was a beach, it was an old military training site. Could be an interesting day.
