Default First Hunt At New Site: SILVER X2

I got a chance to hunt my new site this evening for about 2 and 1/2 hours. I didn't find the real old coins I was hoping for from the post office that was shut down in 1900 but did OK. I pulled a few lincoln cents, a nickel, a dime, a 1934 wheat, and then a 1947 Rosie, and the worst looking Mercury dime I've ever seen. This thing got way too hot one time. The digging is some of the easiest I have ever done. The soil is soft and almost like digging beach sand after you get past the grass. I think that may be working against me though for the older coins. I have a feeling they may have sunk to a depth I can't reach with my detector. I will probably be back for more tomorrow evening. Happy Hunting all.

Don't feel bad Gordie'sGirl I was clueless too. Carolinachief this may be a great site to hunt right after a rain. It might be what you need to get to the really old stuff. Happy Hunting.

Thanks for the replies. Gordiesgirl remember that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Folks here are glad to answer any kind of questions you might have like that. We do have our own jargon as MDers and newbies have to catch on. Just ask and you will get an answer here.
