Yes it is. I went to the local church this evening and only got a quarter and two pennies but it was nice.

Dri-Wash:
what unit do you use for a land unit?

JC:
are you a member of the church where you detected.. Or did you just ask for permission.
There are many Very Old church's around here and It sure would be nice to detect on there properties...

I wondered the same thing about the churches - there are a lot of pretty old churches in the area and I thought they would be great places to detect but wasn't sure how likely they are to allowing you to detect on their property. Seems a lot of people are afraid that you'll destroy their yard.

The church I am detecting is a catholic church about 1 mile from my home. I am not catholic but I go there with my wife Beverly who is and I know most of the congregation. I never did a formal request but helped clean up after the picnic and mentioned to a caretaker that I was gonna do some detecting and that I would leave no trace of my efforts. Since then I have gone up there about 4 times and each time I see someone new and explain my presence. I wondered if I should ask the Father that preaches there but have not had a good chance yet to see him. I am still new and I am trying to figure the permission thing out as well. In this case these are my neighbors and know me but there are many churches around that I would like to hunt but won't go there until I get a formal permission.

I use a Whites MXT with the 6x10 DD in ball fields and use the 3x6 DD in the Tot lots and parks....I use the relic setting,,,,just like that mode the sound it makes on ferus and nonferus (sp)
This unit seems to work great for me....but I do think that if, you learn the machine you have, you will do good also..
