Default First Real Hunt with new Tejon.

Hi All,
Yesterday was the first time I've had to give the my new Tejon a good work out. I did manage to find 1 1907 "V" nickel, 4 wheat pennys, the rest is clad stuff, with a couple junk rings. I'm still looking for the depth that everyone is talking about from the Tejon. The most I have gotten out of it so far is around 6 to 7 inches. I know there are some deep coins where I'm at, because I've dug them out with my old Whites Eagle Spectrum down to 12 inches. I'm still getting use to the Tejon, but I don't have a detector that will compare with the target separation, it is great. Anyhow enjoy the pics.

Looks like it was a good hunt but I don't know about the Tesoro. Will you try to clean up the old coin a bit? I am still trying to learn how to get them clean just enough to see details. I have a new white's xlt that is in for repair that I am anxious to try. HH

Sounds like a pretty darn good day. I am sure the depth is something that comes with experience and time. Good luck and happy hunting with your new machine.

Hey JC,
I will clean the coins sooner or later. No rush right now. I use to have a tumbler but it quit working an I need to get another on. (I'll be giving Chuck a call on that) As for the XLT, you won't regret it. I have a Whites Eagle Spectrum, which is the earlier version of the XLT, a few differences, but not much. It will take a little bit to get the hang of, but once you do, look out. It will probably be the same with me and this new Tejon. I did notice that my types of finds has changed. With the old Eagle, I didn't dig much trash, I got into a bad habit of targeting high VDI#'s. That is one reason I choose the Tejon was to get away from the meter. I think that not knowing improves the enjoyment of the hunt.
