Default 50 Pull Tabs and one Dime

Hi everyone, I had one of those days yesterday. I got away a little in the afternoon, its really hot here but I decided to go to a neighboring towns picnic grove. This picnic grove has been used for the last 90 years by a Catholic Church and the local Sportsmans Club tjey have two picnics a year plus various reunions etc. Well I have been told that several metal detectorist have hunted the site and perhaps I believe they have got the good stuff. Then again if it has been hunted alot they left the trash. I couldn't swing one time or walk one foot without hitting a pull tab. I had my DFX on tone ID, Jewelry and Coin mode I only got one coin sound the entire hour that I was there and that tone produced 1 1969 Dime. I did however find about 50 pull tabs and a couple buried beer cans. Its hard to believe there were so many pull tabs. Well the moral of thes story is I'm 10 cents richer and tomorrows another day.

Take Care,

Yup and next time you won't have "those" pull tabs to contend with. I have learned from the great guys and gals here that sometimes you hafta dig the trash out of the way to find the treasure. Keep on Hunting

Sounds like the day I had...found enough aluminum pull tabs, cans and other metals that I could have built my own 747. So, hang in there, the good stuff is under all that junk.

they are right, get the trash out first, then slow down , fine tune your md, and listen for the very small sounds (a md does not lie) and soon you will be digging the GOOD STUFF.

Boobie is right. I hit a park that really seemed never to have been detected. I went in and it was a junk yard of pull tabs, coon tails, bottle tops, and misc. scraps. I cleaned all the unwanted metal out of there, and occasional clad coin. Then, once I cleared the surface, found 4 rings, a mercury dime, and several wheat pennies. What seems like the biggest junk yard, is often a great spot in the end, because you have a lot of variables going for you. It has likely not been detected, and it has shown a high volume of people. Those two ingredients, mean $$$$$ in my opinion.

You have great things to come. Gordiesgirl says that you can donate the pulltabs to various charities.

Might I add that if all the other detectorists were just digging coins, they left all the jewelery for YOU!!!
