Weekend travels...
This weekend proved to be a downer as far as finds go..here is how it all panned out.
Saturday I spent 4 hours at Olde Itzak Walton Park in Leesburg, hoping to find some good stuff but only came away with a dog tag (not very old), a car dealership logo, a master lock (like new) and 33 cents in clad. Giving the history of the area, I was hoping to at least run across some old Civil War bullets, or something like that. No luck this time.
Sunday, I spent 2 hours at Hillside Park just down the road from the house, the significance of this park is it contains an old stone house from the 1700/1800's. I was hoping that it would turn up something nice, no such luck. I did manage to pull up three very old square type nails, an old rusty lock (no identifying marks found), a rusted old wood chisel ( handle is missing, so I assume it rotted away) found it about 6 in. down, 2 cents in clad, and an old Tab cola cap..which is significant because of the dollar signs on the cap...if anyone recalls in/around 1978/1979, Coca Cola company ran a contest giving away money using those caps and pull tabs, all you had to do was open the bottle/can and look under the cap to see if you won. Thought that would bring back a few memories.
I said all that to say this..I have never in three months found so many pop tops, bottle caps, cans and misc other peices of metal as I have this weekend. I had enough aluminum to have built my own airliner. That folks is no joke! LOL!
