Default Musket Ball & Mixed bag today.

Today I headed to the park for about 3 hrs but had a few rain delays in between.
I found myself under several large trees to shield me from the rain..

Then I was getting bored waiting so I detected around the base of the tree and I get a strong hit for a "Memorial Penny" on Explorer SE and Honestly I wasn't going to bother to dig it...

Its a good thing that I did.. Turned out to be a Musket Ball.. My First!!!!
It was about 1" deep resting on a Root..
I was really shocked when I picked it up.. and here I thought it was a Clad penny....

Dig It all.. I'm telling ya... You have to.. in order to find the real goodies..

I came away with a couple of wheaties and $3.09 3/4 cents.

Oh yeah I always carry a Hefty 3 ply with me incase it rains.

I'm really starting to see the importance in what you all are saying about digging everything. I remembered a park from when I was little and it was close to where I play softball at now so one evening before my game, I stopped by with my detector. I dug up a few quarters and pennies and a lot of pull tabs and garbage but then I started getting careless, going fast, and just digging good signals cause I was in a rush. On my way back to the car, a guy who lived next door to the park asked how I did and I told him and he says "You know, I've lived here for over 20 years and never recall anyone using a metal detector around here." Now I'm itching to get back there and dig every signal I can! I'm 33 and the parks been there for at least 30 years possibly more like 50 years so no telling what's buried around there. Hopefully I'll be able to get up there this weekend and be able to contribute something to the Your Finds forum!

Default Hey Dirt digger

I would slowly detect that park.. Listen even though its "Only" ben a park for 30 something years... That piece of land has been there Forever!!!!!

My last few finds that turned out to be my "Best" so far. I was going to Pass up on...

and I know people get frustrated digging all the Junk and clad pennies...

but lets face it.. if you don't dig those signals you will never find the Goodies!!!

I have been digging junk for over a week and got a signal this morning that screamed "Trash". I took the time to get my 2nd Wheat from under a tree root. I was happy. Congrats on your finds and I love my shirts.
