Default " The I Hope It Is Dime "

Haven't been on here in awhile, Been about 100 degrees past week in O.K.C. Decided to swing the ole coil for a little bit. Went over on N.W. 16th where they scraped an old lot down to and old foundation. Got to swinging, Few modern pennies that needed to be removed from baked clay with a jack-hammer, Decided I wanted to live a little longer and decided to check piles of loose dirt they had scrapped up, Bits and pieces of copper and brass. By this time I'm drenched in sweat and get a solid dime reading, Moved some loose dirt and saw a black disk, Then I did something out of habbit that you shouldn't do, I wetted my thumb and wiped the dime. It was a 1916 Merc !!!! ??? Flipped it over and wouldn't you know, A big glob of crust right where the mint mark would be. So I hurry home soak the dime in baking soda Hoping for the D and removed enough of the built up crust only to see that it was so worn that the mint mark wouldn't have been visible anyway. So, The I hope it is dime turned out to be the I wonder if it was dime. Hurry up cooler weather !!!!
