big graphite pencils?
Forgot about these things I found at a torn up sidewalk. They rang up as nickels and are light for their size. Pretty sure they are graphite (leave marks on wood easily). You would think carpenter pencils, but they are round so they would roll off things easily. One thing for sure, I don't have a pencil sharpener big enough to sharpen one
 On a side note I found a decent non MD find this morning: a $10 bill sitting on a parkway

They look like carbon arc cutting rods to me, used to cut rebar and steel
stock. Just a guess. HH Gary
