Default Girlfriend finds first loonie, oh and 100 year old coin

Went on a road trip to Winnipeg to take my visiting sister to the airport. On our trip back home we stopped in a place called Portage La Prairie at the fairgrounds to detect. Less than 5 minutes into the hunt, my girlfriend unearthed a 1907 silver 5 cent coin in great condition. This is her first 100 year old coin, she was and I was too. I found a nicely bent silver locket with an amethyst stone in the center that was right on the surface. The park is vast and we only spent 2 hours or so there but we will return sometime. We left there and stopped in another town also with a vast park but obviously hunted. We ended up doing the sandy areas around the swings etc. Lo and behold my girlfriend finally found a loonie dollar and her first dinky car. It was a 3 firsts day for her. Altogether we accumulated $8.00 in clads, a Famous Players token, a square headed nail, and a pouch full of can slaw, and pulltabs. A sad note to my story, the loonie dollar in the pic of my girlfriends finds was borrowed from my finds as she has missplaced her find. She wants to go back tomorrow to try and find it again, fortunately for her I witnessed the find. We had a great time and a lot of laughs. Thanks for looking and HH

I hunt the woods and I put my coins in my pouch.
I wear gloves in case I run across broken glass while digging.

My fingers aren't so nimble anymore and I just might miss the pouch and misplace a coin.

I am going to take your advice and get a bright colored prescription container to put my good stuff in.
If I drop it, I'll be able to spot it much easier.

Thanks for the tip.

I cut a small slot in the top of the cover of the perscription bottle to for those days when the clad is poppin out the ground like crazy. Gotta save that time for diggin.

Love the idea about the bottle and congrats on the good finds. I think I lost a coin the other day when I put it in my pocket. Not sure but gonna change my ways.
