Default 1st Sniper hunt found 925

I went to my lunch park and plugged in the new sniper coil I just bought from Chuck. I turned it on and headed for the shade, since it's 101 deg today. Let me tell y'all this much, I now have a completely new machine! The Ace250 is acting like it never did before. I can now find stuff lickety split. If you have an Ace250 and DON'T have the sniper, stop what you're doin' right now and go get one!!!! I ended up digging less because the pinpoint is so accurate that I only have to dig a little hole. Less time digging = more finds!!

I found a silver ring on my second target. It says 925, but I do have a question. If it says 925 but has a bit that looks like it's peeling off, could it still be silver just coated with more silver? Not sure why they would do that, but I figured it was worth askin'.

I'm at work, so I can't post a photo, but I will later.

Thanks Y'all!

Great news. Pris. I am glad that the Sniper is already paying dividends.

As for your question about 925, 925 supposedly means solid, sterling silver. I won't say that this means that your ring is not silver but that is kind of suspicious.

I have found similar rings and I am tempted to say that while they appeared to have a layer of 925 plated on the surface, underneath they were something less than 925.

I think only a chemical test can tell what it really is underneath.

I'm gonna have to look at it with my loop, but upon closer inspection it looks more like a stain or tarnish, than a peeling of layers. Hard to tell.

I'm happy, either way. It's really cool. It has 3 frogs on it and they look like they're climbing on the ring.

Tarnish is good. That means it is probably solid.
