OZ

Maybe not. Some "blank" cartridges were special use. Depending on what the front end looks like it might be a grenade launching blank with a misfired primer.

There is an example half way down the page.
Labeled: Cartridge, Caliber .30, Grenade, M3
.30 Caliber (.30-06 Springfield) Ammunition

It might have also been used as a salute blank for ceremonial use, althought that wasn't the primary use.

I do believe the FC is from Federal Cartridge Co., Anoka, Minn., USA pre 1950

It's kind of neet anyhow

Thanks
Leo

its not a blank. with the '06 blanks the whole
cartridge would be brass even where the
bullet is supposed to be.

A whee bit off subject, sorta, but I found a full round while I was camping one time and just re-buried it. I had no idea what to do with it and don't own a gun, so I don't know how volatile it could be if it's an older round.

Does the shell seem heavy, like there's still some stuff inside?

This time I did find a live round. An unspent 30-30 found about 2'' down behind a hotel I was staying at. Called the local police and asked what the procedure was for unspent ammunition. For one bullet they said just do what-ever you want with it LOL.

I bet a lawyer could have fun with the police in court if you wanted to shoot someone and you got their ok to "Do whatever you want with it"
