Default Lots of work, little benefit!

Went to an old ski hill today -- it closed down about 50 years ago. Thought this would be a good place, but it was hard to even figure out where the old slopes ran. The old buildings were so encircled with trash it was hard to detect much at all. All I came home with was one wheat (1942), a few more recent pennies, a handfull of bullets (recent), a marble, and a lot of trash. Oh, and a great big scrape on one shin! At least I got some excercise climbing up and down the slopes!

Works out like that sometimes Doug, like you said, you did get some exercise though. The good thing about this hobby is, next time you might find something great.

I have always thought there would be lots under the lifts. Thanx for posting Doug,

More important than where the old ski runs were is where were the old chairlifts. That is where you would be more likely to find dropped stuff.

I agree, of course they pulled all that stuff out for the new ski hill and in 50 years, there just isn't much left to go on, especially after the big fire we had here back in 2000 -- it's all grown thick with aspens and scrub oak. Tough going, especially with a metal detector.

At least you gave it a shot. If you had not you would always wonder. If you think it still has treasure to give maybe you could have it dowsed.

Julie is right, now you know what is (or isn't) there! I would rather waste an afternoon looking than waste time wondering.....

Someone in the area may have have worked there or skiied there...and perhaps could fill you in on where everything was...

EPC has a good point. If someone remembers where things were that might give you a starting point.
