Talking San Clemente Tuesday morning

I decided to give the ACE 250 a go at San Clemente this morning. The last go I was using the Bounty Hunter with limited tones and discrimination. I only searched north of the pier between the safety office and almost to the pier in 3 hours.
Sure enough I couldn't use all metals and maximum sensitivity. I took sensitivity down 2 notches and switched to the jewelry mode. That appears to be all of the coin mode plus a couple more definitions. The main thing discriminated against is ferromagnetic materials like old rusty nuts, bolts, nails and bobby pins.
This setup was required to scan from the road to the water's edge. The down side is that I have seen these definitions find sterling silver bracelets and some foreign coins. I may go back and scan this same area working parallel with the water. Only the area within 15 feet of the access road is badly contaminated.
Just on the other side of the access road is the AMTRAK railroad. I hadn't realized how many trains run. I don't normally work with headphones so there were times that I had to rely on the vibration from the tones felt in my fingers. Next run at San Clemente I am taking headphones.
This part of the beach isn't used by the tourists. It is mostly surfers and locals that want less of a crowd.
I found one silver hoop (about 2 1/2 inches), a fork made in Korea, 2 lead sinkers, a pair of prescription bifocals, a toy truck, a toy soldier, a tiny silver bell charm, 12 quarters, 12 dimes, 1 nickel, 12 pennies and 1 Mexican 20 Centavos (1965). That was a neat coincidence of 12's.
I was surprised to find the foreign coin. I figured that with the discrimination I wouldn't see any - but this is a 1965 coin prior to the recent movement to magnetic coins. I noticed some small print at the base of the pyramid that I enlarged and put in the bottom center of the picture. It is TEOTIHUACAN.
Normally I wouldn't keep a fork, but this one was not attracted by the magnet and it was made in Korea. My wife was born in Korea so it has significance to us.
Nothing spectacular, but then it doesn't have to be. Being out by the surf an a California beach is enough to make a great day. Treasure hunting makes it perfect.

Cool find, TEOTIHUACAN was an ancient city, funny I can't remember any more about it, but the name I'll probably never forget! Since you mentioned it, I'll google it when I get a chance.

That is a great haul John. I love the coin. I think that you should always keep something that "speaks" to you.

You're right, John - it's not the finds...it's doing what we love...a lot of folks miss out on that.
