Default Not so lucky keys

Tried a Chicago park where I have seen a lot of people watching local soccer matches. After detecting the area though it looks like they were there to get drunk instead. Tons of Corona beer bottle tops. Made detecting just about impossible. Found 1 lousy cent among the bottle tops. Tried closer to the soccer playing field and found a dime, then my first full set of keys. As a picture below shows, the keys were doomed to be lost due to bad luck? One key had the locksmiths name and number inscribed on it - the locksmith is approximately 6 miles due north from the park.

I then tried the field and a few other spots. Very, very slow. Not as many bottle tops, but pull tabs took their place LOL. In 2 hours managed 1 quarter, 10 dimes, 1 nickel and 17 cents.

Heck sounds like a good day to me! Your total was not bad, and you were out and hunting, Beale.

Smile Good day indeed.

Sounds like you had a pretty good day "dirt fishing". Have you tried to return the keys yet? That may be an interesting story.
I pick up a lot of Corona bottle caps too. Kinda strange, since bottles and all other glass is forbidden at the beach.
But the thing I really don't understand is pop tabs. In the old days when you popped a top and removed a piece of aluminum (like the symbol on my ACE 250) I could see some getting away from you. Some people put them inside the cans - and choked when they drank them. Now they are part of the lid. You have to work them back and forth to break them loose. Why do that? And having done that, why throw it away? I would hope that a person that breaks on loose would repeat the old stupidity and put it in the can - and choke on it!
Oh well, just venting. At least it gives us something to find! The thrill is still there because it looks like a ring sometimes.
Fresh air, exercise and a little clad plus keys that may be identified - you did good. Happy hunting. May that next pop tab really be a silver ring! Thanks for the story and pictures.

I know how that is with the bottle caps. Gives a really high signal and then the letdown when you unearth them. Have a lot of those in the front yard next to main highway. Folks just toss anything out their car windows nowadays.

I understand to old style pulltabs being around, they had to be removed to drink from the can.

But can anyone tell me what possesses people to remove and discard the newer style that just needs to be flipped back? They just want to litter and the entire can is too obvious?
