Default I keep forgetting to ask...

but anyone know anything about rocks? I mean, the kind of rocks that sound off a detector? When Minelab and I were hunting the other week we came across this strange rock in the creek that we couldn't believe was sounding off the detectors. It's dark charcoal grey in colour, fairly light in weight, and is made up of numerous thin layers. Most rocks I've found are in the 4-6" range - maybe 1/2" thick. Strange thing is, it's not consistent when it sounds off...sometimes I think I've got a pull tab, other times it says it's in the iron range. I'm sure it's something quite common - I mean, I've found tons of it. Just don't know what it's called.

Thanks!

Coke.......not the drink....but like coal, we call them hot rocks, they are a nuisance because they give such a good signal.

Exactly what I was thinking, Anne...and being in PA - there's sure to be a lot of it!

I was wondering if it could been some type of alien lifeform just messing with us and our detectors, or maybe, it was the fog

....well I did use lower case letters, so maybe it will think I meant fog in general, not it, F. O. G.

Hi Riki,
I have the same problem with rocks in my area. There seems to be some heavily mineralized ones always lying in my path.
