Default what is this?

Was digging in the front yard and received a strong signal. I dug this up from about 10 inches down. Was using the Silver uMax with the large coil. It is brass but I am not sure what it was used for.

Could it be the bottom of a fancy walking cane?

The item is about 3/4 of an inch lengthwise and about 1/2 inch in diameter. The photos did not do it justice. I wonder if it could be some handle for a rod? If I am lucky it might be the end of a ram rod for a musket. Then again luck hasn't been my strong suit as of late.

My guess would be a compression fitting on a piece of pipe?

I agree with MineLabMan, hard to tell by the pics, but looks like a piece of copper tubing with a brass ferrule on the end.
