Talking Ring and necklace

I decided to give Laguna a try this morning to see if I could raise my clad count. I didn't really expect anything great, just enough to push me over my next milestone.
The results were unexpected. While walking from one location to another I always swing away on the way. I found several coins in wet sand where I didn't expect to. The other thing odd was the condition of the coins was new and shiny. Quite a difference after working the San Juan Capistrano beach.
Before too long I picked up a strange mixed signal. When I scooped the signal left the sand, but I didn't really see anything in the scoop that was recognizable. This was before sunrise so I only had my hat light to go by. I can't put the light on the scoop and still look through the closeup part of my bifocals. I started to pour the sticks and stuff out when I noticed something sort of slide/slink out of the basket.
The hair raised on the back of my neck as I thought, "SNAKE!". Then I calmed down as I remembered I was on a beach in California and it was 54 degrees out. There are no snakes so it had to be a necklace. Rather than scoop again I searched the sand with my fingers and pulled out the necklace. It is probably some sort of friendship necklace (I haven't looked up the reference yet). It has a sterling silver pendant on a plated necklace.
After searching some more another person with a metal detector came along and started scanning where I was working. A little irritating to say the least. Also, he didn't fill his holes, didn't take out the metal trash and didn't pick up litter. He didn't find anything either. So I just worked around him, filling his holes and picking up the trash.
In his wake I picked up the ring shown in the attachment. It is pretty nice looking if you don't look too closely. The stones aren't really attached with the fake fittings, they are glued in. But it sparkles nicely. My wife immediately said, "there's the ring I lost!".
I also found a Boss Mustang (1970), an airport authority dump truck, a troop, a cute hair clasp, a key, a gold earring (plated probably) and a small ball-chain.
The clad included 9 quarters, 9 dimes, 5 nickels and 7 pennies. That was more than I needed for the next milestone. I roll and turn in my clad as soon as I can. I "buy" all the coins I find to put in the coin bags as I find them. My total now is $202 with 87 cents in change. That was collected in a little under 4 months.
For some reason the sand sifter showed up this morning. I am not sure why. It was good that I started early.
Happy hunting to all. Happy Columbus day (in the US) and Happy Thanksgiving (in Canada).

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun, giggle, and make friends along the way!

Nice finds John,

I guess you finding the ring is what the other guy gets for leaving trash and not filling his holes. Sloppy people make sloppy detectorists!

I agree that's a pretty awesome morning, John. Your wife sounds like a smart lady I think it's great that you found that ring after the non-hole filler, non-trash picker upper had gone over it already. Serves him right!! Maybe you could challenge him to a duel of MDing, of course. You would kick his bootie, handily, I would wager.
