Default x-70 experimentin,silver and clad

I Been experimentin with the x-70 last few days.I been trying to focus on dimes or better.Found 1 barber,1 merc, and 2 silver rosys at the old school and today and yesterday i hit the Morris Fairgrounds got 1 1918-s merc yesterday at the fair and a bunch of clad.Thirteen quarters, thirteen dimes and a pile of pennys.

I picked these two spots to see how the x-70 would do in a high trash site. The dimes at the school were 6-8 inches deep in very dry soil and one of the rosey's was found in the same hole as nails, tin and coal ash yet still had a good clear tone and id'ed at a 38

The merc i found at the fair was on top of the ground close to some HUGE holes someone had dug, servs em right for leavin a mess !

Congrats on the digs. They look to be in good shape.

Got a question for you. Are all the dimes coming in at a 38? That is where mine come in at. The quarters are a 42.

The wierd thing is I have seen pennies range from a 30-34. The dimes and quarters seem not to, Beale.

The X-70 loves dimes. I have found them at 10+ in the sand. Pennies vary due to corrosion. I have had a few old copper pennies come in at 38 in damp loam.

I generaly go by sound, then look at the numbers.Silver just seems to have a clear ?? crisp?? sound.I have found this to be true on all the detectors I've used.I also think this is more true for a coin that has been buried for awile.I found that silver dimes are a steady 38,clad jumps back and forth between 36-38.I also got a couple of clad dimes and copper pennys that were on the surface that registered at 38.But being on the surface i figgered them to be clad. But the Merc was also on the surface and luckily i dident pass it up like i thought of doing.Quarters were a steady 42,havent tryed a silver one YET !

Awesome finds, RIP. I really like how you put the dimes on the postcard of the fair grounds. Really adds some meaning to the age of those dimes.

Great job, my friend
