Default My 1st Louisiana Silver & My Wife's First Day Of MDing

This morning I had a doctor's appointment to see what they can do about the migraine's I have been having daily. They put a sedative through IV for them to be able to give me a couple of shots in back my head ! I never thought that was even possible. Well, obviously I was unable to drive afterwards, even though I felt like I was more than capable. On the ride back home, I asked my wife, Angel, if she wanted to go metal detecting in our local park. She agreed!

We didn't have but an hour to detect until it was time to pick the children up from school - but it was definately a great short hunt! I was using the Minelab SE with the 8" coil and Angel was using the Ace 250 with the Sniper coil. She called me over and showed me a really cool (worthless) token. This token has a clown on the face with "No Cash Value" written on the back. The clown looks like Lou Jacobs from the Ringling Bros. circus - can anybody confirm this clown??? Since I like tokens of every type, I told her she definately found what I would have loved to find. She also found a cool looking button as well. Besides pull-tabs, her only other find was a clad penny. Angel has not forgotten this hunt, mostly because she is focused on the blistered fingers from digging!

As for my finds, I found my first silver coin in my own state of Louisiana. It is a worn 1935 quarter, and I am still kicking myself for scratching the face of it while digging it out the ground. I love seeing the brightness of silver when it is there in the dirt before you. This makes my second silver coin - the first was a 1954 Rosie found in Illinois during my visit with Leelo. I also found a cool looking token with an Eagle on the face. This token was found around 5 minutes after Angel found her token. The back side of this token reads "For Replay Only, No Cash Value". Anybody have any information on this token???

All in all, it was great to get out of the house with my wife away from the children (ages 5 &12). It is a rare thing, and one that I treasure more than any token I can ever find! Speaking of which - Angel and I (no kids!) are heading out tomorrow & Saturday to Grand Isle - a Louisiana island in the Gulf. It will be the first time I will beach hunt. I sure do hope to find lots of goodies!

congrats on your finds. My husband suffers from migraines and is on heavy duty meds. The eagle token is called a freedom token. You can use them in an arcade. I found a bunch of them on the beach this summer. The guy that runs the arcade (who is a MDer too) told me I could redeem them anytime I want. When they are new, they are a beautiful color of gold, and will give your heart a fit, lol. HH!!

Nice hour's hunt. I'm so glad to hear that your wife has been "bitten" by the bug! My wife took an immediate interest in the hobby - and I was a bit surprised when I joined TQ that a lot of spouses do not...so you and I are a couple of the lucky ones!

Conngrats on the silver and the cool tokens - I really like the circus one!
