Default Sidewalk search

On the way home from work yesterday I noticed some torn up sidewalks, and some already were being filled in *ugh*. Brought my MD to work and hit them afterwards. One lonesome one, about 2 blocks away yielded a whopping cent LOL. Tried the main batch and it was cent, cent, cent, but at least I was finding something. They already had the forms laid so I couldn't detect the edges like I prefer to. Got some hits on quarters on the parkway right by the forms but alas they were clad. Meanwhile I was finding some what-do-yah-call-this and other thing-a-ma-bobs. Finally after all recent coinage nabbed a wheatie (clad dime was about 2'' away). I switched over to the new courtesy walks they were putting in and found a Chinese coin of all things. Then it was more cents, mostly ZLincolns and very sporadic clad dimes. I also found 3 nickels, which is more than all my other sidewalk searches combined. Went back to finish off the sidewalk area. Started finding coins smack dab in the middle about an inch or two down. How all this recent coinage made it to the mid sidewalk section I have no idea. How does a clad quarter end up 2'' down on a freshly dug up sidewalk?? Anyway one of my last finds was a surprise, an Indian Head! Alas it is in really bad shape, you cannot even see the reverse and the obverse was barely visible. Tumbling it for an hour to see if I can get enough crud off it to see a date. Electrolysis will most likely be next - the coin is so bad cleaning it is the only option.

No silver, but a decent amount of clad: 4 quarters, 4 dimes, 3 nickels and 20 cents (actually 28, but 8 are corroding Zlincolns).

That is wierd that recent clad would end up in the middle of the old sidewalk. I can only guess that maybe it was moved there when the prepped the site.

Smile Wtg!

Good finds, torn up sidewalks and the targets. No idea how the clad gets to the middle of where the sidewalk used to be. Maybe the workmen using the jackhammers dropped them?
Happy hunting.

Here are some pictures. I put the IH back in the tumbler. Tumbled it for an hour, followed by an hour of electrolysis. If you think it looks bad now, picture how it looked before I was able to clean it enough to at least make out Miss Liberty! Have a few what-do-yah-call-it also. I think one might be a bike valve cover. No idea on the Chinese? coin - heck, I'm not even sure what is the obverse and reverse LOL. Very worn down, it was circulated quite well before being lost. Might have a tie cip or cuff link in two of the photos (bottom and top views). Had some detail on it, but mostly worn off and it didn't show up in the photos.

Oops, forgot about the max limit on attachments. 1 more - screws into something, not sure what. The bottom has 4482, the side looks like A-S. Part # for some doo-hicky.
