Talking 925 silver ring

I returned to Treasure Island today to finish searching the beach. I made some major finds before I got to the beach. First, there is parking on the Coast Highway, you don't have to use the limited underground parking garage. Second, there is a restroom at the far end of the parking garage from the ramp that leads down to the beach.

I did a lot of searching and didn't think I was doing well. More than half of the area I searched (that extends to Aliso Beach to the south) yielded nothing at all. I found 8 dimes, 3 nickels and 11 pennies for the clad. I found a silver object that I thought was a foreign coin (it looked like a Vietnamese coin I remember) but when I turned it over I saw the two holes for sewing attachment.

I found a couple of items that I wrote off as pure junk. But when I got home and cleaned what I thought was a junk ring turned out to be 925 silver. It cleaned up really nicely. My wife confiscated it and is wearing it now. Doesn't look like it will make the treasure box.

I also discovered what I thought was a junk pendant with a horse's head on it. I brushed it with a fine toothbrush and a little soap and water and all the dirt fell away. It isn't corroded at all, just really dirty. It looks like the horse head is made of gold - not sure of the purity yet.

The final thing is more a curiosity than anything else. It is a gold piece that was used to lable something from Dior. I hadn't realized that Dior was still an active designer. There was no clue what the piece was attached to.

So, what I had thought was a mediocre hunt was really a great hunt. Any hunt with a silver ring is a great hunt by definition.

My Ford Explorer found a new way to aggravate me today. I planned on going for lunch then hitting another beach. But a little wrench symbol showed up on the instrument cluster and the engine stopped. It turned out that a sensor on the carburetor plate that deals with deceleration had broken loose. For joy, for joy! Getting to the dealer, checking out a rental car and trading back for my fixed car took the rest of the afternoon.

I did notice today that a crowd was at both Main Beach in Laguna and Aliso Beach. I have to be out of my garage by 7 am in the morning to avoid being trapped by street pavers. So I will be at the beach at 5 AM and spend the day MDing.

Happy hunting to all! Turkey day approaches!

A productive day I'd say. Nice that you found the facilities there! That certainly extends the hunting day!

As always, you did great!! WTG on the silver!!

Dior is a verrry active designer, one of my favs, and that looks like the piece of hardware for a handbag. Dior bags are notorious for having huge, metal "C" and "D"'s that link together, and that may be one of the pieces.

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun!

Hey John, today and tomorrow are supposed to be beautiful, weather wise, so I would bet there is going to be plenty of people at the beaches.

I sure hope you find what they lose. I've got too many cleaning projects at home or I would be out there this weekend. Gotta deep clean the house for the holidays, though.

Sorry 'bout your car, but you get to go today!!
