Cool Clad, toys and What's This?

I went to Laguna Beach and Aliso Beach today to see what folks left me over Thanksgiving weekend. Turns out to be very little. No gold or silver to be found.

The problem may have been that we are in a period of maximum high tides and minima low tides at the same time. The timing of it is that high tide occurs very early in the morning and the ocean is moving to low tide during the day. This makes for fantastic tide pool adventures and many are set up well below the high tide line. So when high tide hits overnight, all is washed away. The dry sand didn't have much.

I did find a Camero, cruiser and an alligator toy. All in very good condition. :santa1: Then at Laguna I found a What's it. There are no marks on it, not even country of origin. Any guesses? It is something like a seam ripper with the blade in the corner of the vee, but it is not the right shape. My best guess is that it could be used to remove a portion of a unibrow?

I found 21 quarters, 22 dimes, 5 nickels and 42 pennies. :reindeer: Not too bad for the clad. None of the coins were interesting (silver or wheatie).

Another beautiful day at the beach and lots of good exercise. :carols: Regardless of the lack of silver or gold, it was a fun hunt. They all are.

Lots of Japanese tourists around now. Many stopped me and asked about metal detecting or a guide to sites of interest in the area. As always, I was glad to take time out from my swinging to enlighten tourists.:grinningelf:

It's a shame. These tourists seem to stay on the boardwalk or sidewalks. Not many are on the sand and none are spreading blankets.

Happy hunting to all and happy holidays!:candycane:

Hey John you still got out and found some cool items! The toys are fun, and the whatizts are allways neat.

I like when you say your clad count was not bad. For an inland hunter like me that would be a fantastic clad day, Beale.

It's true - It's for nails. WTG - Now your fingers can be pretty after you dig!

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun, giggle, and make friends along the way!

I have an ACE 250 and it doesn't like the really wet sand and definitely not the water. I have set up discrimination before so that it would work a little in the wet sand. But the clad I found wasn't worthwhile. It was severely worn and corroded. I also suspect the clad sinks in the wet sand beyond detectable depth (about 24 inches seems to be my limit).

Arkwater: wife says its a cuticle trimmer.

Pappy: It is a fingernail cuticle remover.

Yup. That is what my wife said too. :christmaswreath:

When Arkwater wrote the answer last night I tried it out and now my cuticles are cute!:santa1:

Love metal detecting, I am always learning something.

Clad really doesn't make a day. For me it has to be a ring or other jewelry. I am insanely jealous of the inland folk that find silver coins and other really old coins. Hopefully I can get in on some of that once the rains come to Southern California. Right now the dirt is like cement - no appreciable rain in two years. I have to settle for lost pocket change, the great exercise and beautiful day at the beach. Also, I get to enjoy the hobby year 'round. Still I would trade a lot of that for just one silver half!

Happy hunting to all!:candycane:
