Default The old drive-in comes thru again

I spent a couple of hours at the abandoned drive-in where I found the Franlkin half. It's been hunted pretty good by me and my buddy so this time I decided to try the EE-prom deep silver program on my DFX. No silver coins but I did find a couple of wheats and a silver ring. This ring is tiny. Obviously a childs ring. It's stamped STERLING on the inside and there's some other letters but I can't tell what they are.

Those are great finds. We used to have a drive in in this area. I know the land is vacant. It looks like that would be a good spot.

Good hunt, Beale.

Drive-in's are a great spot to hunt. Think about it, people are there only at night, they have to get out of the car with money in hand, and walk to the concession stand. If you drop something, not much chance you'll find it in the dark. If you have an abandoned drive-in in your area, I'd be running to get there.

There's another drive-in close to me but there's a business on the property now and some of the property is parking lot. But you can still see most of the humps where cars used to park in a field. I just know it's loaded with silver but they denied permission to hunt the property. One guy told me the business was going to be moved sometime soon but they haven't moved yet . I just keep my eyes open for the day they move. I'll be on that place like flies on poop

Terraclient is a good tool I use to locate old places....and it's free. It uses satellite images and you can also overlay a topo map that you can fade in/out. As you can see in the pic below, even though the drive-in is long gone, it shows where it was. It even shows where the concession stand was.

Hey Padmaster I like your thinking. I need to do some research to see who owns the land. It was called the "Circle G". The funny thing was they showed {XXX} rated movies! They were around when I was in college (1976-81) and before that. It will make for some good research during winter. Thanks for the idea, Beale.

Do a google search on it. There are several websites dedicated to information on drive-in's. Here's a good one:

Drive-In Theater
