Default My first ever hunt.

Ok, for those who don't know, I just got an ACE250 and it was purchased as a Christmas gift for me and my Son. Well, after this afternoon, I scratched that idea. I am going to get him a bike. The ACE is MINE!

I checked my Son out of school early today but didn't tell him why. We got home and I took him to the trunk. He was so excited when he saw the new metal detector.

We got out some diggin' tools and headed to the back yard. I set the ACE on all metal and we went huntin'. We hadn't gone 10 feet when I got the first signal and my Son attacked the ground like he was trying to dig to China. Did I mention that the kid loves to dig in the dirt. When the dust settled we had a piece of a soda can. After we gathered several nails and scrap wires, he looks at the detector and asks me why we aren't using the "coin" setting. I explained that we probably wouldn't find any coins in our back yard but I would change the setting anyway. Yeah, I stuck my foot in my mouth. Not a minute later I get a tone that indicated a possible dime. He starts digging and out pops a dime. I scan the spot again and get another strong signal and we find another dime. It's not much but my son is beaming. After another 30 minutes of digging trash, we call it a day. We take our loot to the back porch and I help him clean the coins. He insists on staying there and cleaning the rest but before he does, I take a couple of snapshots.

The short of the story is that me and my Son are 100% hooked. I am inside posting to this forum and my Son is still on the back porch trying to clean rusted nails. I knew this would be fun but I am very supprised at how much my Son has taken to it.

Attached is a shot of all the "loot" we gathered and a couple of the two dimes.

Tim

It's always great to hear about the first hunt. Your Ace will give your a lot of good, dependable signals and some memories to share. Good luck and keep us posted on the progress!
