Default Finds from last few hunts

As promised, I am posting a pic of the brass wedding band I found. The pics are not so clear but I hope you can see it. It's very shiny. The one thing I have noticed though is on one side it looks as though the metal is worn. It's just a tiny piece but it's big enough to make you think the ring is Brass Plated. I just can't figure out if it's brass, why they would mark Brass inside.

Been a long week! Can't wait to do some hunting!

So glad it's going to be FRIDAY

Forgot to post my clad from the few hunts lately. The brass ring pic looks terrible. Looks like the brass is coming off everywhere. You can't really see the brass coming off but in one place. It's so small you would have to really look for it.

Default cool finds

i dont think the brass is coming off as in chipping off another metal like plateing. i think it is the way brass corrodes. old cuspidors (Spit tunes) are notorius for it. it looks like peeling or chipping but i belieive it is the way the copper and tin react when they corrode. old brass band instruments do the same thing.

plenty of clad is good to

happy huntin and merry christmas

hopeing we can get to the boro soon and do some diggin...
would love to hit the football field over there

Smile Neat finds!

Those are some neat finds. I agree with Bigbillinsc, the ring is "pure" brass. Brass isn't a metal that is plated, although you can use it as a base metal to plate over. What you are seeing is a pitting that can happen.
Something like Brasso would really make it shine.
Finding a mini ball is really great.
Happy hunting this weekend.:santahat:

The thing that scares me is, if i'm jealous now what will I be like come March. Hope you're able to keep detectin, if so just think of us ole people up north wishin we were down south. Happy Hunting
