Default I thought I did it. Too Bad.....

Saturday I posted a 24k ring with diamonds. Well folks, today I took it to the jeweler to have it appraised. On the way there I was bragging on my best find and dreaming about it's worth. I proudly walked in to the shop and told the man do I have a ring to show you. He said very nice, Picked up his loop looked at me and said nice setting I can see how you were fooled, I hate to tell you but it is 24k goldplated and the diamonds are not diamonds at all. I asked him why it was not marked plated he said it was it is so small that you would have to have a jewelerloop to see it. Well needless to say I was crushed, shocked, and OMG I posted it on TQ. I felt like a fool
Thank you all for the nice responces to the thread. I did it again, yahoooo.
But the only thing I did was make a fool of myself. TOO BAD.

You needn't worry about making a fool of yourself here in our family. We were all just as excited as you were and are just as dissapointed but it is still a cool find. JC

Hey! Isn't it the thrill of the find that gets your heart going? Who cares if its gold or not? I'm always happy to find a ring. I'll take a junk ring over clad any day! Better get ya a loupe though, to save face

Hey, I'm on my hands and knees on the sides of crowded streets poking around under parking meters digging up crusted zinc pennies - I don't think you have anything to be embarrassed about!

It is still "a great" find. Heck I would have jumped and hollered myself.

I am sorry it was not what you thought. You did not make "a fool" of yourself, Beale.

Smile Still GREAT ring

The ring is still a fantastic looking ring. It is a great design. A ring is a ring, but some are more beautiful than others. Great addition to your collection. I have a loop - but the last gold ring I had to search and search before I finally found the very little imprint.
Congratulations on a great find, still.

What everyone else said, nothing to be ashamed about, still a nice ring.

I still have that nice ring that I found at the tot lot that has to get to a jeweler, will probably be the same story .
