Yeah right!!! lol!!! We have a friend from Louisiana...He is the best cook ever!!! He is always slipping something different on the plate...All I can say is delishhhhh!!!!!!!!! I never ask!!! lol

I was watching Bizarre foods with Andrew Zimmern and he gave a whole segment on the Nutra. People do, in fact, hunt them for food. There was a push with restaurants in the south (Louisiana area) that Nutra was a new delicacy for the area...it didn't really catch on, but people do hunt them from time to time. Andrew said they taste better than he thought they would. He said it was actually quite delicious.

I'm not sure, but I think you must mean nutria. Nutria were brought here from South America for their fur and when fur was no longer fashionable, they were just turned loose. Now they are everywhere. Our state game commission has (in the past) asked hunters to help control their numbers and have even had recipes in their fliers. Was told they taste somewhat like pork. Tender and delicious......They eat succulent vegetation and are very damaging to crops and waterways. They burrow into the sides of streams and canals causing erosion. Similar to a beaver in appearance except for the tail which is round and rat-like. They are a rodent, but not sure "rat" fits.

I see that they are called nutra-rat in some places. Here they are called nutria.

Smile Thanks for the pics!

Great pics, thanks a bunch for posting them. And congratulations on 925 silver. :christmastree1: I still haven't found a toe ring (in the wild).
I definitely wouldn't want to bump into an alli on a hunt, regardless of how well fed it was. I would probably walk back to the car on the treetops!
Happy hunting (treasure, not nutria).:snowman:
