Default Yesterdays Finds

I spent about 6 hours carefully going over about a 1200sq.ft. piece of yard. It is the same place I found the old flat buttons I posted on "Ask Pappy".
I discarded a lot of modern nails, wire and ceramic shards. This is what I kept. The spoon bowl and handle were found about a foot apart. Any input on identification would be appreciated. I think the nails I saved are old. I am including individual pictures of two items that I don't have a clue about. Well, the brass thing with the little pulley looks a little like a sailboat fitting but it was about 5" deep.

What an awesome collection for one day! They all look like they have the same amount of wear/exposure,... what used to be in that yard? Or rather, what's in that yard now? I guess I should go dig around for the other thread you posted and read more there... but good stuff anyway! I'm sure there's more there!

So far I've found one very old license plate, a lot of nails, some funky green pennies and other misc. change.. but who's counting? I'm just here to have fun, giggle, and make friends along the way!

There have been buildings on this land since the 1600's. When we built our house we uncovered many brick walks. I wish I had been interested in metal detecting then. All I can say is they must have held onto their coins tightly.

Both the spoon and the butter knife are plated...or were plated.

All of these items were no more than 6"-8" deep. In that part of the yard the clay is too dense to allow anything deeper unless there was a dug pit.

I am saving the best and most undisturbed part of the yard for when our granddaughter comes this summer. We are giving her a metal detector for her birthday.
