Marbles, marbles, and more marbles
When I first moved into our home here in Redford, Michigan, I wanted to have a small garden. So out came the shovel and I began to spade and turn the dirt over, while persuing this hot and sweaty job, I turned the next shovelful over and busted the clod of dirt up, Marbles went sailing everywhere.....lol. But these were not ordinary marbles, they were made out of granite! There were 1", 3/4", 1/2" about 75 in all, and the remains of a leather marble pouch. My house was moved here from another location and this lot used to be a play sandlot. I found out after selling the whole lot of marbles to a collector for $50.00 that I got BURNED, only cause I was ignorant on the value of stone marbles. The 1" ones were worth 75.00 each, the 3/4" ones were worth 50.00 each and so on down the line. I have also found many marbles, clay, agates, peeries, catseyes, pretty swirly's, solids, while digging metalic objects. When I have more time I will see about posting photos of them right here in this forum ( if it's okay to do so in this forum) Larry
