From the land of the Bluenose.....If you are like us here in Canada one of the rarer coins that a digger finds is a 50 cent piece. Although they ring up "some good youz" they are scarce. Last summer after 30 years of detecting I hit number six on Kidston Farm which is a semi private park and a place the locals can go to plant veggies on a small plot. Have hunted this place exstensively and am sure I walked over the Newfie 50 at least a dozen times. Plan to hit the upper filed in early spring as this spot was the site of a WW11 spot light and anti aircraft battery. There is also a Kidston Lake that is a municiply park and has a small swimming hole which has given me a lot of rings and leeches. Got to take the good with the bad. Around the park is a huge stone known as the Rocking Stone" that was actually visited by King George V on a royal visit. In the swimming area is an item I just got to find this summer as a lady approached me there last year an indicated that she had lost a gold neckless with a glass vile that is now home to her late husband's ashes.
