Yeah my guess is a token, it's a little bigger than a half dollar & feels like tin, not as thick as a half dollar.

I dug one very similar to yours. Mine has the flag with Alice Louise Underwood 1951. It is made of aluminum. I thought it to be maybe a kids badge from a cracker jack box?

Those "tokens" are good luck coins that you used to be able to get from a machine. You dial in what letters / numbers you want on it so you can personalize them. There were tons of those old machines where I grew up. Must be all gone now, huh? There should be a horse shoe or four leaf clover in the middle on one side.
