Default Questions about beach detecting

I am trying to plan my summer vacation, which will include detecting on the beach. Right now, I'm leaning toward Florida and the Sebastian Inlet & Melbourne area (mainly because it's usually not extremely crowded). Then again, I've been there before and sort of want to go somewhere different. My question is, where are the best places on the east coast, other than Florida, to hunt the beaches? Also, are there any regulations I should be aware of? Thanks for any advice.

Donna, for what I have read about Vero beach and north to Sebastian, it has gone through a beach sand restoration with lots of new sand on the beach. Which could be a good thing. The Dredge does not discriminate what it pumps up on the beach, but then again it covers a lot of stuff up and deep. That sand could be gone by the summer, but who knows.
I know that you are not to get in the water below low tide line because of the the Fisher family treasure leases, and can't go above the dune line. No digging around the dunes where there are sea oats or grass.
A pic of the beach in Wabasso beach. zoom in or out and pan around.

You could always journey a little further down south to Pompano Bch, Vero Bch, Deerfield Bch, Hollywood Bch, etc Those would be some great area's aswell.
I still think its still alittle too cold to hit the Northern bchs yet. Especially if you want a Warm vacation.

lets not leave out New Smyrna Bch, Which is Really nice with all the small islands that are around.. Rated Best Beach....

360 at the Inlet, New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Which ever you choose Enjoy !!!!

Hey Donna, if you don't already have one get a sand scoop, they are a lifesaver, & time saver, no bending over, scoop the sand out, grab your treasure & be on your way, get one with the 3 ft handle if you can, it's a lot better.

Default Va. Beach Rocks!!

You better bring big guns though or some luck, lots of good competition on that beach but also an insane number of depositors. The Va. Beach Surf Pirates work that strip and are a Great Bunch, helpful and friendly. You'd get along well at Va. Beach.

Good hunting,

BDA

I have always wanted to hunt here. Charleston, SC. Many settlers came through this way and there could be pirate booty galore. It is also a very historic place to visit and some peaceful beaches to just relax after the hunt.HH

Now South Carolina is a place I haven't been to in about 25 years. That's a possibility. Someone I carpool with suggested there yesterday. I really appreciate everybody's input.

Default Hi

You could always try Miami Beach if you could make it that south. Lots of tourists lose lots of things. It should be worth the drive. I know I will hit Miami Beach This month on the 29th.

Wish I was hitting Miami beach this month!! That's quite a trip. Not really wanting to drive that far and with all the kids aboard there won't be any flying this year! Good hunting!
