That lock must be old to be down 10 inches, it's great you let the kids 'help' you, I'm sure it meant a lot to them, now they'll have a story to tell of the guy who let them metal detect & find some money.

Neat finds
That lock really looks like a neat artifact.
I also love to demonstrate the 'tector for the kids. It only takes one coin or just about anything to get them hooked. Happy hunting - hope there is more real treasure in the park.
