That lock must be old to be down 10 inches, it's great you let the kids 'help' you, I'm sure it meant a lot to them, now they'll have a story to tell of the guy who let them metal detect & find some money.

Good of you to let the kids help out with the 'magic stick'. Kids are always so enthusiastic about out hobby. Kewl old lock, it could very well be from the old jail.

That lock really looks like a neat artifact.
I also love to demonstrate the 'tector for the kids. It only takes one coin or just about anything to get them hooked.
Happy hunting - hope there is more real treasure in the park.
