Default First creek hunt.

Hey All,

Well I just couldn't sit here and wait anymore for my biz phone to ring.

From the BLM claim map I saw an active placer claim close to my house on a creek that comes from Peavine mnt into Lemmon Valley where I live. Expecting it to be all snow I was pleasently surprised alot had melted away. On went the boots and in no time I was swinging up the creek.

Found what I thought I would, bullets and casings. I did however get hits on the rocks below. They are pretty heavy and after cracking two open they seem to be metalic. They are a little magnetic, friderator maginets stick to them.

The whiter one sure looks like silver or some kind of shinny metal.
Didn't have to dig them they were on the surface.

Any ideas?

Rick

I can't tell Rick, but I hope they turn out to be something good for ya.
Glad you were able to get out for a hunt.

I called the UNR mining department and the guy said it is most likely Magnetite, or Hematite or both. He wants to see them to be sure.

I'll let ya know.

He was right. Still pretty cool looking rocks

He gave me alot of good info on places to nugget hunt and look for meteorites.

He told me of a camp on a mountain around here a guy used to get 5k in placer a season. That was in 1867.

Gonna find the place today.

It seems like you're gaining so much knowledge and experience with each hunt. You're learning so much and meeting some really neat people. WTG!!
