Default Elgin Watch

Got out today for a while to my removed house in a CW area. Dug a few clad coins and this Elgin pocket watch. Not sure how old it is.....too bad it doesn't still work.

That is a great watch! I really like the design on the back. Good hunt, Beale.

Looks like a very old watch. I've heard that name before.

Pappy,
Any suggestions on opening this watch? There's no socket to pry at. There is a line around it, but I can't get anything in it to pry with.

I'd love to know more about it.

It is probably a screw back. Get a small piece of rubber ( such as innertube) to use for a grip and try to un-screw it..If that does not work you are going to have to pry it off some way or other. May want to put some olive oil or 3 in 1 on it overnight and try it again tomorrow.
