Smile Wolf in the park

I went down to San Clemente to a friend's house to take him treasure hunting. He had a lead on a local housing park that had a lot of use for touch football games and the like.
We did a lot of searching and only found several pennies, the ones I dug mostly had bites out of them from lawnmowers. The best find in this little park was a Cub Scout neckerchief slide (the second I have found) that was in really bad condition.
On the way back to my friend's house (to collect the car and go to another park nearby) I swung my coil over a grass strip near the road. I found a few spills of pennies and one quarter. I didn't really expect to get anything from this grass strip because there is no parking on the street by it.
We went to another small regional park. The tot lot had no dirt or sand, it was the soft asphalt like material. I did some random walking and found some pennies, nickels and finally another Cub Scout wolf neckerchief slide. This one was in better condition and a picture is attached to this post. Later I found a Chuck E. Cheese token from 1982. This token is not like any of the other Chuck E. Cheese tokens I have found. Chuck is drawin differently and is wearing a derby hat, not a baseball cap. The saying is "IN PIZZA WE TRUST", it has 25C play value and "PIZZA TIME THEATER".
I found 3 quarters, 1 dime, 5 nickels and 28 pennies in clad. But I found some new places to swing my coil. Those are the grass strips by streets, whether or not they have parking. Although the best yield was from the grass strip near the second park I hunted. There was parking there and a sidewalk. Grass strips are rare in California, as are sidewalks. The combination of a grass strip, parking at the curb and a sidewalk is extremely rare. I will be keeping my eyes open for more of them now.
On the local radio I heard of a jazz concert and local city anniversary of some sort at a park called out as, "Oso, Mission Viejo". It doesn't ring a bell, but I will be searching local information to find it. The concert is only 4 hours long - but it should get lots of people on a little grass and make for a great after concert hunt.
Happy hunting to all!

I would imagine that some of the older scouting paraphanalia is collectible and becoming quite valuable - the same as everything else these days...nice afternoon, John!

johnj45586 congrats on the finds. Mission Viejo is right in my neighborhood area (Irvine/OC here). I wonder if they were talking about Oso Veijo park? If so here is the info on the park. If you plan on a hunt and would like a huntin' buddy, let me know I'd be glad to go out and check it out with you. Pris is local too, she might even be able to come along.
