1912 Half Penny and a 1950 Wheatie

In the hour before the sun went down I decided to slip out for a quick hunt at the 'old' at Cambridge Beaches. This beach is a beast to hunt with a 10" Excalibur, all you can do is clean out all of the junk until you can start to hear the good tones. That's what I did for a little over an hour this evening, dig, dig, dig - junk, junk, junk. Every type of old boat part you can imagine got hauled out of the bottom of the lane along with handfuls of brass and copper screws/nails.
I still managed a few interesting finds including a 1912 King George V, Half Penny and a 1950 Wheatie(thought it might be a 1930 but I'm guessing 1950 to play it safe).
I also pulled some wierd brass vice thing out of the bottom, I thought that would be an aluminium can but I was certainly surprised when it came up in my scoop.

Too True, Buster. The ocean is brutal on old copper coins unless you can manage to pull them out of bottom muck, then they're generally pretty good. Silver holds up better and I'm told that gold coins are unaffected but I can't say personally because I'm still looking for that elusive gold coin.
