Default found under baseboard

We are tearing out old carpet in one of the bedrooms. While cleaning the floor, my wife found what she thought was a penny under the baseboard, she didn't have her glasses on, but she forgot to bring it down, and I asked her to bring it down the next time she goes up.
Well it turns out it was not a penny, it was a 1934 Deutsches Reich 1 Pfenning. What a surprise.
Is this thing out of place or what?

No foreigners as far as I know. We are second owners, and we bought it from a builder that built it for himself. The house was built in 1978, and we bought it in 1990.

very interesting find! Perhaps the carpet installers had it in their pockets. It kinda makes me laugh because when I lived in Germany in 1989-90 it cost 5 pfennig for a pack of ketchup at McDonalds.. wtg

Cool find, goes to show that you never know where you'll find treasure.

From what Joker said, sounds like you have enough to dip your fries in Ketchup a couple of times .

Yea, not worth much. When I lived there 1958- 1960 10 pfennings was worth 2 1/2 us cents. You could buy a handful of gummy bears from the balloon man for 10 Pfennings. My how things have changed.

It's amazing how things end up where they do sometimes, you never know where you'll find treasure.
