Default New spot

Since I have just started to detect, just about all spots are new to me! But today, I tried at a park that is close to where I live and outside of town. Figured it would be a good spot. Well it wasnt all that good. Myself and a friend hit the grass and tot lot with very little luck. He pulled 1 dime and 2 pennies out, and I pulled 4 pennies and what appears to be a sterling heart earing. There was a bent stud on it and it fell off when I cleaned it.

Still getting used to the new detector. I sure like it!

Frank

Oh I'm not giving up, Heck I'm just getting started!

This spot is an interesting one. It's a small park 6 miles outside of town. It used to be a military installation and still has one of those big radar balls (look like a big golf ball) on it that is still manned. That part of the area is fenced off. There are some old footings that I believe were barracks. I do want to do some detecting over there, just haven't figured out who to talk to before hand.

As far as the park goes, there is a tot lot, baseball field and a horse arena, most of which doesn't get used much anymore. I found the silver behind some short bleachers near the horse arena about 2" deep. The ground is very hard and mineralized in that area, but the MXT found it. Don't really know if it's old or not. It looks like the stuff they sell now in the western stores in the silver section of jewerly. heck, not even sure it's silver, but it seems too heavy for it's size to be much of anything else.
