Default First Wheat AND oldest coin!

My first wheat ended up being my oldest coin! (1926 Wheat penny)

I threw in a picture of a nickel that I *thought* was my oldest coin until yesterday. I've discovered a secluded park in an older part of the city with huge trees that have probably provided shade for a long time. They irrigate it regularly so the ground is soft and I get good depth. Most of the time (here in Arizona) the ground in the parks is so hard that I carry a hammer with me to pound my digging tool deep enough to recover anything.

I've only been at it since the first of the year and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

My camera won't zoom in close enough, so I put them on the scanner.

Smile Congrats on wheaty

Wheaties are always nice. The nickel is older than any I have found. I am pining for a war nickel. You overshot a couple of years.
I'll bet more and older finds are in your future. Bummer about the hard ground. That is the way it is here about 9 months of the year.
Are there any parks or other areas where they use water sprinklers?
I don't mind using a star drill for mining gold - but digging coins it is too much!
Happy hunting

Congrats on the "old" wheat! I enjoy finding wheats very much. Your nickel is much older than any I have found. Good job, Beale.
