Default Insignia -- can anyone ID?

Took a road trip today to an old burned out cabin up in the Jemez Mountains. After lots of digging up nails, cans, and other metal junk, I came across this U.S. insignia. It's marked "KREW G-I" on the back. Can anyone help me ID it?

Looks close if not dead on, but unfortunately, there's no info about it. Thanks, however!

Doug ...I'm positive it's designed exactly like the one I wore on my army uniform from 1972 - 1993 believe me I shinned it often lol.....If I remember right the army changed to that pin in the 60's.....Maybe someone else has better info...I hope this helps!?!

Thanks George! That helps a lot. I know now that by the hallmark it is 1965 or later, so that narrows it down a bit. I've been wondering the age of this old place and wasn't finding anything to help me -- not a single coin. This is all I found worth keeping.
