Default Great Coin Haul Today Including a TWO-CENT PIECE!!!!

Hello all,

I got up the courage to ask permission for a new site today and it really paid off! The person I asked was 95 years old and one of the nicest people that I have ever met. I talked with him for over an hour, sharing md'ing stories and other things and he shared some of the history of his house and property. Anyway, this house was built in around 1810 and is of the Federal style. He told me that he went around the yard with a metal detector years ago and did not find anything worth while. So, I started in the front yard and soon found my way around to the side of the house. I got a really strong signal on my XLT that read around 80, so I figured that it was probably a penny. I dug down about 5 inches and popped out the plug. I waved the coil over it and sure enough, it was in there. I picked up the plug and looked it over. I saw the edge of something that was flat and thought that it was confirmed that I had a penny. I pulled it out and to my suprise I had an 1865 Two Cent Piece staring back at me!! I was so excited that nothing else could have gotten me down today. This is my SECOND Two Cent Piece this year and it's in EXCELLENT condition! After another three hours of hunting I managed to pull out 7 wheats (1920-D, 1927, 1935-D, 1941, 1944, 1946 and 1950); 2 Jefferson Nickels (1946 and 1952); a 1963-D Rosie, an 1879 Indian Head, a pocket knife and a strange pin with a cross and "community" on it. All in all I would say it was a GREAT day!! Let me know what ya think!

Take care and HH!

H.D.

UPDATE: I got to looking at the 2-cent coin under magnification and saw that it is the scarce "Fancy 5" variety. I have posted a close up pic of the date. Notice the fancy "curl" on the 5 in the date.

The 2 cent piece has eluded me thus far. I hope to eventually find one. That one looks in excellent shape. The 79 IH is also a nice looking coin. Congrats
