Default Relic Wednesday!!

I declare yesterday Relic Wednesday. I was working at the Firestation and I have been detecting a small lot next door to our station. Others have detected there, but today was my day. Here lately I have found tons of clad and old iron, from where back in the early 1900's there used to be a carriage works on the property. I will take a picture of the lot and post up soon as I go back to work..Anyway. In this little area probably no bigger than a small car I found a lot of old melted lead. Didn't think much of it then my detector hit on a solid penny tone. So I dug it and out came one of these nice 3 ring bullets..Heavy, and big caliber. I knew they were Civil War bullets just because of my location..Downtown Natchez, Mississippi. I was on one side of the lot so I decided to work that area in a straight line back to the building. The lot sits in between 2 buildings and a long time ago another building sat on top of the lot I am hunting now. Well about an hour later another solid penny signal. Dug it and low and behold another 3 ring bullet. I couldn't believe it. I was happy dancing for real.. All I can figure is that some Civil war dude was sitting in the spot making bullets, because of all the lead I found in the area where I found the intact bullet. Also dug this funny looking piece of glass or rock not sure what it is, but it is a rootbeer color and you can see through it???? Not sure if it is glass or some sort of stone?? Enjoy my pic...

Pretty cool digs!!!..The bullets don't appear to have any groove marks...if so they are "drops".....Was there a battle in that vacinity....CW soldiers would carry lumps of melted lead to make different things to include bullets....pretty cool finds!

Well we had the Battle of Natchez. One Casualty. A union gunship was traveling the river and a group of people were at the Natchez under the hill Saloon. Which by the way is still up and running. The Gunship fired a blank round to rial the soldiers up at the Fort Rosalie on the bluff overlooking the river. A gentleman at the Saloon had a heart attack and died. The one casulty. There was a ton of activity around those days in downtown Natchez. If you do a search about Natchez under the hill you will see and read some crazy history. This town was the Las Vegas of the Mississippi river back in the old days.
