Default Buckles, colonials, dog and the newbie

From the land of the Bluenose.....well the bouy from Chetticamp arrived finally with Max the Bilingual Wonder Dog in tow. Let me tell you me son he sure helped me put a damper in the old birthday cake!

After a one sided filabuster of a conversation we hit the sack preparing for the onslaught of the "island" the next day which started off on the right foot as Marie out did herself in the kitchen making us a mean breakfast.
At 0900hrs we boarded the water taxi with "King John of Kingston," a newbie joining us for the day. At least he swings the lean mean green digging machine so he ain't dat bad youz!
Try as he might French Dave couldn't get Max to put on his life jacket!

The view on this mixed bag of weather day was great as we sped across the harbour with the Johnson 150hp creating a wake that threw back droplets of fridget water over our faces .

Arriving on the island French Dave felt as if every British gun in the garrison was pointed at him.
I think he was right.
We quickly boot scooted out of this area as it is a "no detect zone"
and hit a copper field where the Minelab ruled the day over the Garrets pulling out the large coppers and a nice 1815 ship token.

Of course Max found a new friend for the day who was a busy digging up this and that and learning his Ace 250 along with the joy of walking and digging up bottle caps and shell casings.
Bouy sure did dig the biggest target of the day and at the price of brass the richest!

Seven hours later which seemed like a mere two to us and it was time to catch the water taxi home which with John's brass find was seriously low in the water!

French Dave's take for the day!

Me meger finds youz
including the only silver of the day in the form of the pendant.

Next day it was out again to the big tree where we ran into a pair of renegades swinging White's. Man was the bull shipping going full tilt on this dig with laughs a bounding. Had hunted with Stephan before and the bouy is always a hoot.
Of course he too is Acadian and we were all amazed that French Dave and he shared the same last name although not related..........um find that hard to believe youz amoungst dos Acadians!

French Dave and the Minorlab were a humming on this day too as he pulled out a lot of toasty tokens and an old hat badge

Of course I bent down to smell the "roses"
and got back up again a half hour later. No Bud the night before but all the wet weather sure seized up the old joints big time and I settled with two modern coins and a buckle.

Another entertaining story, and some great finds. What a great place to hunt. That cake looked good too.
