Well I got out this afternoon for a bit. Had to go down to Lacey, which is about 15 mi from my house so took my detector etc. I decided to stop on the side of this road I take on a vacant lot that in the summer has a fruit stand. Its all pea gravel,IS NOT MARKED PRIVATE PROPERTY ( thats the important part of the story) and had a car on it that was for sale. Well I hadn't been swinging 5 minutes and this old man pulls up behind me and tells me to stop. He asked me what I thought I was doing as I was on private property. I told him I was sorry, I wasn't aware it was private as it isn't marked as such and people pull off and park here etc all the time. Well long story short he said his son owned the property and I needed to leave. I said ok no problem. He then says we don't want this property messed up. I was getting a tad sick of his lip and said yep, sure don't wanna hurt your pea gravel. As I was pulling out I told him to mark his property or send his son to tell me to get off next time. Since you don't own it mister, you ain't got anymore right to be here than I do. All that for 4 cents LOL
So...I go to this park I know of with lots of soccer fields etc. I start walking towards the playground and a groundskeeper makes a beeline for me. He don't say anything but watches until I get to the playground and volleyball courts. Long story short, I found 27 cents there. A quarter and 2 pennies.
Ok so I'm a tad frustrated at this point because we are having our afternoon rain and decide to go to an old park I hunted years ago with my XLT ( when I had it

). Well it had changed a bit, my sand boxes were gone, but there were lots of picnic tables in woodchips so what the hey. Well not 1 minute into it this groundskeeper starts walking my way. I asked him if it was ok to be there and he's like SURE! You can hunt anywhere ya want except in front of the office there. Then he proceeds to show me where an old foundry was many moons ago. He asked if I was looking for anything specific and I said MONEY! He says oh well, here's what ya do. Go across that little foot bridge there and down the path. There is a little waterfall/pool there people throw money in. We clean it out and dump it across the fence. Have at it.
Well I go and have a bit of a problem finding what I'm looking for and next thing I know Mark ( the groundskeeper) says Kid follow me

So he takes me right to it. I get over the fence ( no small feat I might add) and BANG right off the bat, penny. Only wee problem with this area was A) it was on a VERY steep incline about 200 feet above the Deschutes River which was running like Niagra Falls. B) the ground was all squishy and not too stable. I found more pennies and a nickel before my thighs said ENOUGH!
I did look at the base of a tree there, using the stuff rolls down hill theory. I WILL go back for sure. Went back to the picnic area and tried the grass where everyone plays etc. Got a solid quarter hit, hug my plug and there it was right on the bottom of my plug

Good thing it wasn't much deeper, I use about a 3 inch blade on my knife that I cut plugs with and it was up to the hilt.
In total I found 79 cents, used muscles that are illegal in this state, got hollered at by a grumpy old man, and met the coolest parks person you ever want to meet.
Oh and dropped my LWII in a stream and gotta dry it out now :(
Think I'm gonna go soak my aching body!
